The Story

2007

Victoria and Evan first met in high school

although they are both quick to point out that they did not date—they were at most semi-flirtatious. One grade apart, they both held posts in student government. That is where they got to know each other fairly well, through all those after school event set-ups and annual retreats that come with such prestigious positions. As far as romantic moments go, there was a close call in the summer of 2008 at the summer camp where they both worked as counselors. It was at the annual camp sleepover in the back kitchen, after the campers had gone to sleep, where Evan innocently offered Victoria a dixie cup of vodka that he had snuck in. Victoria politely declined, and that was that.

2013

Less than one Obama-term later they reconnected

after mutual friend Michael Callas tipped off Victoria that Evan was freshly single. An awkward first date took place on June 19, 2013 at a soccer game rapidly bloomed into a "pretty serious relationship", and less than one year later Evan moved into Victoria's apartment in Studio City where they monopolized the kitchen. Cohabiting was fun, came naturally, and offered both parties a deep understanding of the other which served to strengthen their relationship. The early getaways to places like Ojai, Yosemite, and Catalina Island, and their mutual enjoyment of performing those somewhat repetitive, domestic activities while in each other's company gave both the feeling that this could very well be the person they would spend the rest of their lives with.

2014

Victoria and Evan moved to Echo Park

to live with their long-time friend, and adult son, Austin Kearns. Camp Elsinore lasted for about two years before they found a rental of their own down the street. Here is where they've taken the greatest steps towards a life together: learning how to support each other's dreams, caring for each other through the lows, and adding little Dagny to their family.

2019

Evan finally (finally!) proposed to Victoria

in February of 2019 in the presence of their friends Megan and Niklas, the Pacific Ocean, and a beautiful sunset. With absolutely no pressure to have a wedding, they quietly waited for a global pandemic for the perfect opportunity.

Present
